New CPSIA Law

Well I said I was going to blog every week. I didn't do a very good job at that last week. Instead I have had my hands full with items in my Etsy shop in regards to this new law. Many of us "MOMS" have had our hands full writing letters and trying to figure out this new CPSIA laws.

My take on the law anything you sell that can be used by a child under the age of 12 has to be tested. And of course at your cost. I have been reading 100s of blogs and chat boards to see if there is any clear cut rules. Heck even the CPSIA themselves seem to not have clear cut rules. I have voted on many sites in hopes that it will reach congress or even the President himself. I am very worried on how it is going to affect all us small handmade shops that sell handmade items to make a little extra for our household budget.

I have found one blog that gives a pretty good opinion of her views. The sad thing is I think many of us crafting Moms have the same views. I just hope we find a resolution that we can all live with or I fear many small homebased businesses run by Moms will soon be out of business.

Visit Trisha for more information and her views on this mess our represenatives have made.

To all the homebased Moms like myself out their. Lets keep sending those letters until someone finally hears us.

Information

Happy New Year All!

It is a new year and I have made my New Years resolutions. I actually have 4 of them this year.

My first is to keep my desk uncluttered. Put things away rather than just set it down.

My second is to finish my sons scrapbook by the end of the year. So that means that I have to complete 1 to 3 pages a week in order to complete the 7 scrapbook I have going for him.

My third is to use up more of my scraps. Create more handmade cards and items as gifts this year.

My fourth and last is to blog at least twice a week.

So there you have it my New Years resolutions. So here is my attempt at getting started. I am going to try to enlist my friends to help me stay on goal this year. I would love December 2009 to come and say I made it. But like all New Years resolutions there will be times I want to jump ship, fall off the wagon or just give up. But with a little encouragement from friends I hope to stay on track.

I have reactivated my private yahoo scrapping group and plan to become very active with that group again. I love how those ladies encourage you to scrap, share ideas, and are like my sisters. I will also be offering monthly contests on the yahoo group and here on my blog. So hopefully it will motivate you too to get some crafting done.

I wish you all great things in 2009.

Hugs
Julie
